Car Remote for GoPro®
Harald Meyer
Control your GoPro® camera(s) on your car from CarPlay. Car Remote talks to your cameras directly over Bluetooth. Mount cameras at the front, at the back and inside the car, and start them all with one tap on the CarPlay screen, without reaching for your iPhone or the cameras. ON THE CARPLAY SCREEN • Record all and Stop all: every camera starts and stops together • Each camera on its own: record, stop and mark the moment (HiLight) • Switch a camera between video, photo and time-lapse • Recording time, battery and video time left for each camera at a glance • Switch all cameras off when you park, after one confirmation HANDS-FREE WITH SIRI Say "Start recording with Car Remote" or "Stop recording with Car Remote". The same actions are in the Shortcuts app, so your cameras can start recording automatically when your iPhone connects to CarPlay. RECORDING TIME AT A GLANCE On iOS 18 and later, a Live Activity shows how long your cameras have been recording on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. On iOS 26 and later it also appears on the CarPlay Dashboard. MADE FOR THE ROAD The car screen uses big buttons and short status lines, nothing that needs a second look. A camera that is switched off, out of range or connected to another device never holds up the others: Car Remote says so, and connects it as soon as it can. If you start Record all before every camera is on, the late ones start recording as soon as they join. SET UP ON YOUR IPHONE Add your cameras once in the iPhone app and give them names you recognise. Car Remote then connects them whenever you open it in CarPlay. The iPhone app works as a remote on its own too, with a live recording timer for each camera. SUPPORTED CAMERAS • HERO13 Black, HERO12 Black, HERO11 Black, HERO11 Black Mini, HERO10 Black, HERO9 Black, HERO8 Black • HERO7 Black, HERO7 Silver, HERO7 White, HERO6 Black, HERO5 Black, HERO5 Session • HERO (2024), MAX, MAX 2, LIT HERO, Mission 1 Pro Several cameras at once, also of different models. REQUIREMENTS iOS 16 or later. For the car screen, a car with CarPlay. GOOD TO KNOW • A GoPro accepts one Bluetooth remote at a time. While Car Remote is connected to a camera, other apps and remotes can't connect to it, and the other way round. • There is no live preview and no media download. Both need Wi-Fi, and neither belongs on a car screen. • Add and rename cameras on your iPhone while parked, and keep your eyes on the road. PRIVACY Car Remote collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics and no internet access. Bluetooth is used only to talk to your own cameras. Car Remote is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GoPro, Inc. GoPro, HERO, MAX and the camera names above are trademarks of GoPro, Inc.
