CharSpin turns Chinese characters into spinning tops. A character's strokes are its top's shape: how many there are, how lopsided they sit and how heavy the typeface is decide how long it spins and how hard it hits. THE THOUSAND CHARACTER CLASSIC Every top comes from the 1,500-year-old Thousand Character Classic. Start with its first line; knowing six in ten characters of a section opens the next, all the way to the last. Characters come in four typefaces — sans, serif, clerical and seal script — for 3,875 tops. PULL, AIM, LAUNCH Hold and pull back to start the countdown; let go right on "Shoot!" for a perfect launch. Once a match you can knock the stadium to shake a top into a pocket. FIRST TO 4 POINTS Xtreme finish 3, over finish 2, burst finish 2, spin finish 1. Your three tops go out in order; your opponent's order stays hidden until each one steps up. FACE-TO-FACE TWO-PLAYER Pair two phones with a QR code and play over a direct connection — no internet needed, just keep Wi‑Fi on. If they can't reach each other, phones signed in to Game Center pair over the internet instead. Two-player matches pay double coins. CHARACTER BOOK All 999 characters of the Classic, each with its reading (zhuyin and pinyin) read aloud, meaning, radical, stroke count, its line in the Classic and common words, from Taiwan's Ministry of Education dictionaries. The 11 hardest are replaced by an easier stand-in character, with a note on the original. LOOKS An optional Launch Set adds two skins (Dewdrop Blue Pegasus and Sky-Water Green Asura) and two stickers, and Season 2 adds two more (Frost-White Valkyrie and Desert-Ochre Wolf) and two stickers, each bought on its own. Each skin trails its own effect while it spins and bursts with a signature flourish on a hard hit. Looks only — a top plays exactly the same.
