Sonos Announcements
Tobias Vinzents
Send announcements to the Sonos speakers in your house – in your own voice. Pick the speakers you want, hold the button down while you talk, and let go. The announcement plays right away. While the announcement plays, the music is turned down, and afterwards it comes back up. The announcement itself plays at the volume the speaker is already set to. NO ACCOUNT. NO CLOUD. NO SUBSCRIPTION. The app talks directly to the speakers on your own network. The sound is recorded on the phone, and the speaker fetches it from there. Your voice never leaves the house. An announcement can be up to five minutes long. FROM YOUR WRIST With Apple Watch you can record an announcement straight from your wrist. The watch passes it on through your iPhone. SHORTCUTS Type a text in Shortcuts, and the phone reads it aloud on your speakers. It is read aloud in the language the app is set to. Use it in automations, for example when dinner is ready or when someone rings the doorbell. You can also have the most recent announcement repeated. AWAY FROM HOME With a Homey Pro you can send announcements home even when you are out. This requires the Sonos Announcements app to be installed on your Homey as well. If you have a VPN to your home, you can also send announcements that way. SAVE THE ANNOUNCEMENTS With a Homey you can save every announcement sent in the house. They are kept on your own Homey at home – not in the cloud – and you can download them to your iPhone. IN 16 LANGUAGES The app is available in Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. Requires Sonos speakers on the same Wi-Fi as the phone. Older models that do not support announcements are shown in the list, but cannot be selected.
