Nievee
NICOLAS LACOSTE
Nievee is the mountain forecast, made clear. Base, mid-mountain, and summit, each with its own elevation, so you always know which point each number refers to. I'm Nicolás Lacoste, and I learned to ski at Cerro Catedral in Argentina. Every time I headed to the mountains, the weather surprised me one way or another, so I made Nievee. It starts simple and goes deeper. The first thing you see is what matters, and the pro-level detail is one tap away. FORECAST BY ELEVATION Hour by hour, up to fifteen days out. Snow, rain, wind and gusts, temperature, feels-like temperature, clouds, and visibility at every elevation. OUR OWN FORMULA We started with more than 20 global and regional weather models and used machine learning to train a formula on nearly 3,000 mountain weather stations and over 800,000 hours of measurements. It learned how terrain changes the wind and temperature in each place. WIND AND TERRAIN A 3D map shows how the wind blows across the whole mountain. We use WindNinja, the US Forest Service model, to see where the terrain speeds it up and where it pushes it off course. MOUNTAIN UV The UV index adjusted for altitude and snow, based on scientific research. A UV of 4 is nothing in the city, but on the mountain it matters. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO HEAD UP • Over 3,000 live webcams • Trail maps • Lift status • Avalanche danger • Each mountain's emergency number, right at hand • Alerts for snowfall, wind holds, and lifts • Widgets and a live card on the Lock Screen • More than 40 languages FREE, AND FOR THE COMMUNITY Nievee is free, and I'm building it on my own. If something looks off or your mountain is missing, email me at lacoste@nievee.com. Nievee isn't affiliated with any ski resort. It's a forecast, not a guarantee. Before you head into the backcountry, always check the official avalanche forecast.
