Filigree: Motif Sketchpad
EVAN TRACEN POWERS
Filigree is a melodic sketchpad for developing musical ideas. Drop in a phrase and Filigree fans it into dozens of related variations — invert it, augment it, revoice it — so you can find the keeper that develops your piece, or stumble onto the spark for a whole new one. Bring an idea and grow it, or reach for one when the page is blank. Built for composers, songwriters, producers, and anyone who takes a small musical idea and works it. HOW IT WORKS - Start a phrase — draw it on a simple grid with no rhythm notation to wrestle with, import a MIDI or MusicXML file from your notation app, or tap Random for an in-key idea to riff on. - Branch variations — from any phrase, add a mathematically-related variation, or hit Surprise me for a whole spread at once. Your original always stays put, so you can explore a full family tree of ideas without losing your place. - Keep the ones you love — star a variation to save it, then audition it, loop it, and compare two side by side. WHAT'S INSIDE - Around thirty musical transforms across reversal, inversion, rhythm, harmony, contour, and structure — each adjustable, not one-size-fits-all. - Harmony and voicings, with a harmonic-rhythm control for turning a single line into something fuller. - A standard-notation view on a real staff, plus MusicXML export for Sibelius, MuseScore, Dorico, or Finale. - MIDI and MusicXML import and export — pull an existing melody in to develop it, and send any keeper straight to your DAW.
