Never miss a shooting star again. Meteor Shower Calendar counts down to the next major meteor shower, tells you how many you can realistically expect to see, and checks tonight's moon and cloud so you head out at exactly the right time. The Next tab opens on a live countdown to the next shower's peak, with its name, peak night and a timeline of the radiant rising across the night. WHAT YOU GET • Countdown to the next peak — days, hours and minutes to the next major shower, with the peak night and a radiant-and-rate timeline across the night. • Realistic rates — the peak ZHR (the theoretical dark-sky maximum) alongside what you may actually see once the moon and the radiant's altitude from your latitude are factored in. • Moon interference — how lit the moon is on peak night and whether it will wash the shower out, from "dark skies" to "severe washout." • Radiant details — the radiant constellation, right ascension and declination, best viewing hour, max radiant altitude, entry velocity and the parent comet or asteroid. • Full-year calendar — the ten major annual showers, soonest peak first, each with its active dates and peak rate. • Tonight check — whether a shower is active tonight, the best hour to watch, the expected rate, and tonight's cloud-cover forecast with the clearest time of night. WHO IT'S FOR Meteor watchers and casual stargazers, astrophotographers chasing fireballs, parents planning a night under the stars with the kids, and anyone who wants a simple heads-up before the Perseids, Geminids or Leonids peak. HOW IT WORKS Shower peaks, rates and radiants come from a built-in astronomical dataset; tonight's cloud cover comes from the Open-Meteo forecast for your location. Enable location for showers and cloud cover for your sky. A NOTE ON ACCURACY Peak dates and rates are long-term averages, not a live ephemeris. ZHR is a theoretical dark-sky maximum; real counts are lower. Cloud cover is a model forecast — always look up. Free with ads. No account needed.
