Topo Map - Georeferencing

Topo Map - Georeferencing turns iPhone and iPad into a field georeferencing companion: notebooks, structured GNSS collection, maps, polygon walks, route logging, interoperability—and candid notes about accuracy limits. WHAT YOU CAN DO — Organize notebooks (Projects): status, location text, summaries, thumbnails; save perimeter polygons from Map walks next to manually created entries; tap into Map/Survey previews including 3D Apple terrain glimpses keyed to GNSS polygon corners. ANALYSIS (Survey) — Footprint/hectare estimates from corners, illustrative slope summaries from GNSS elevations (quick geometry—not a verified DTM prism), illustrative cut/fill style volumes for planning chatter. Pivot among saved polygons, study chronological elevation meshes (chart + lattice tables tied to captures). MAP — Road vs hybrid satellite, optional realistic terrain on vector maps, compass/scale, zoom-to-context button, overlays for recordings and draft polygons, markers when you deliberately focus/import/measure, location dot when authorised, dialogs if route tracking conflicts with perimeter work. PERIMETER WALK — Outline parcels on foot or in a vehicle: stable GPS taps at corners, Finish with ≥3 vertices for planar perimeter & area/name the job—vertices persist as attributable captures linked to notebooks for exports. GPS ROUTING — Capture trails while moving (~8 m / ~5 s between stored samples—see UX copy for intent). Inspect distance, illustrative climb/descent, smoothed longitudinal profiles, slope ladders from GNSS heights, revisit recent routes on the map and share GPX. IMPORT — Bring CSV, GeoJSON, KML or GPX (plus compatible plaintext/XML) through Files/pickers/deep links; optionally reroute stubborn chat attachments via Save/Open. EXPORT — Bulk outputs: UTF‑8 CSV (spreadsheet friendly), KML, GPX waypoints, GeoJSON, ASCII DXF with lon‑lat planar degrees/double‑degree style coordinates and GNSS altitude in Z—not auto‑reprojected to national grids—and PDF dossiers optionally packaged with sibling GeoJSON. Large libraries trim chronologically toward a generous on-device Professional cap (~5 000 captures). COLLECT — Only shows LAT/LON, Z, uncertainties and UTC stamps when fixes pass freshness/accuracy thresholds; mandates Point IDs/codes plus rich metadata slots; selectable Fixed/Float/PPK wording for field notes though Core Location still supplies raw fixes unless you pair external gear; compass or GPS course azimuth with basis tagging; approximate WGS‑84 UTM helper strings; reminders that ellipsoidal Z ≠ orthometric without geoid/external processing; share snapshots from Collect when collaborators need spreadsheets mid-shift. SETTINGS & TRANSPARENCY — Explains datum context and what is still roadmap (offline basemap caches, WMS stacks, caster/NTRIP receivers, authoritative shape packages, staking navigation overlays, etc.). Topo Map complements—not replaces—control networks, cadastral adjudication or certified DSM volumes tied to PPP/RTK workflows. DOCUMENT OPENING — Register common geodata types for “Open In” workflows while coaching users when messaging apps expose raw markup instead of launching Topo Map straight away. Topo Map favors honest engineering ergonomics paired with GIS/CAD/geodesy follow-through outside the handset.
