Prairie Beasts
ALEJANDRO ISMAEL GOMEZ
Prairie Beasts is an interactive ranch storybook set on the dusty paths of Hollow Pine Ranch. Eight short novellas follow eight ranch-bound souls — a weathered foreman watching cattle move under a coming storm, a young ranch hand chasing a spooked mare into the brush, a stable boy alone at the forge, a border collie reading the dusk for a coyote, a cook who runs the supper table, a young rancher learning the weight of a branding iron, a palomino mare with the whole pasture in her head, and a sheriff with twelve missing head and four names on a list. Every novella plays out in ten short passages, with a quiz halfway through, a unique mini-game woven into the action, and a single hard choice that splits the trail in two. Each story can end on the honest path or the iron path, and they read very differently. Sixteen endings wait for you across the ranch — the same world seen sixteen ways. Eight mini-games keep the tension on: match cattle brands before the rain washes the count away, read hoofprints on a dusty trail, sort a horseshoe through its forging, spot what changed in the pasture at dusk, build a stew in the right order, trace a brand without lifting your finger, walk a runaway mare home through a fenced maze, and match clues to suspects in a quiet whodunit. A hand-illustrated bunkhouse holds twelve keepsakes you find along the way. Achievements track every trail you have ridden, every ending unlocked, every quiz answered right. Built for iPhone and iPad, portrait, fully offline. No accounts, no ads — just a quiet place to read, decide, and play.
