The version shown on this website uses real-time KNMI radar data and a custom loss function designed to improve accuracy for heavy rainfall intensities above 5 mm/h. This is significant as other deep-learning models tend to give too much weight to low rainfall intensities, producing forecasts that are excessively smoothed.
