Since 2021, it is allowed in the EU to add ground insects (such as crickets, grasshoppers, and mealworms) to foods as a protein source. Additionally, there are many foods with additives (such as carmine and shellac) that are derived from insects (such as cochineal). You do not want to eat insects? Our Insect Scanner Pro helps you to easily identify these foods. This is how it works: • Scan the barcode on the packaging • The app will immediately show you if the product contains insects or not • Additional information (e.g. Nutri-Score, origin, etc.) will also be displayed The key advantages are: • Extremely fast: The barcode recognition is based on the latest technologies - You will see the result immediately • Very intuitive: Red means: insects found; Green means: all good. • Offline mode: Over 1000 products in the local database - So you can identify products in the supermarket even without an internet connection • Ongoing improvement: New products are being added on an ongoing basis. If a product is unknown, you can add it yourself • Important additional information: Additional information such as the Nutri-Score, origin of the product, additives The app is being actively developed.
