Maibo. Chinese Radicals
MAKSIM KHOLMOV
My name is Maxim (first photo). I've been a Chinese linguist for 17 years. At my company, I head Chinese partnerships and am a minority shareholder in one of Russia's top 3 electrical engineering firms. I struggled with graphemes myself. So I built this app for maximum comfort — a companion for learners and a cheat sheet for the advanced. Chinese has no alphabet. But it has graphemes — the building blocks of every character. Maibo reveals the skeleton of each character. And gives you control: — Replace boring images with your own photos — Edit translations (different textbooks call the same radical differently) — Watch stroke order animations with native audio — Test yourself in language or photo mode No subscription. No ads. An app that obeys you, not the textbook.
