These are not ornaments but the working instruments of a tradition codified by al-Bīrūnī in the eleventh century. Planetary hours run in the Chaldean order — Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars — cycling through the twelve unequal hours of day and the twelve of night, each with its own counsel. You get the full day and night schedule, the day lord and hour lord, the Moon's condition (void of course, via combusta, afflictions), and what the classical sources hold fit or unfit for the hour.
