Phraseologisms from Sami to Norwegian
This app has almost 1,100 Sami phraseology (idioms). These are fixed words and expressions that have a specific meaning.
The working group has chosen texts from Sami fiction where they have systematically picked out phraseologies and fixed words and expressions and translated these into Norwegian. As sources, they have used the dictionaries of Konrad Nielsen and fiction written in traditional language. Expressions that are common in everyday life, e.g. metaphors, comparisons, sayings, nicknames, swear words, are included. It is not possible to translate phraseologies verbatim because the translation is often incomprehensible.
The app only contains sayings that we believe are on the verge of being a fixed expression. Certain single words, which are similar to phraseology, are included for the language part.
The app is suitable for anyone who works with languages and also pupils, students and teachers.
