Sleep Peek
Erik van Beijnen
Sleep Peek is an Android app for magicians: it shows a screen that mimics a standby or sleep screen (large clock, dark layout, network-style text) so it does not look suspicious to the spectator. One line of live information appears in the network area (top-left), where the audience expects to see carrier or network text. You can peek a name, a number, or a word at a glance, without opening other apps or drawing attention.
The screen pulls data from any API URL, so useable for magic apps. Optional vibrations let you know when the information has updated if you want to keep your phone in your pocket.
Features
- Mimics standby / sleep screen - Dark screen, large clock, and network-style text in the usual spot; looks like a normal phone on standby, so it doesn't seem suspicious to the spectator.
- Peek at the network spot - Live text appears where the network/carrier name usually is (top-left), so it reads as a normal status screen.
- Large clock - Clear time in the centre; reinforces the 'phone on standby' look.
- Live data from any API URL - Point the app at an API endpoint; the value is shown in the network area and refreshed every second.
- Multiple profiles - Manage several setups and switch the active one in settings.
- Vibrate on change - Optional long vibration when the polled text changes.
- Vibrate first digit - Optional: if the new value starts with 1-9, short vibrate that many times.
- Minimal UI - Dark screen, grey text, no nav bar; long-press the clock to open settings, then close to return.
