The Mountain Ranger Map is a platform that centralizes dynamic information about mountainous areas, aiming to improve hiker safety. Everyone who traverses a mountain trail is each other's best mountain ranger. Through real-time reporting and information sharing, it allows every hiker preparing for an ascent to be better prepared, minimizing the risks of each climb.
The Mountain Ranger Map can import GPX/KML track files and plot them on the map. It displays routes and data by segmenting the track content, allowing users to focus on the current route and observe whether they are on the planned route, reducing the possibility of getting lost. Users can also record their routes, documenting each trip.
Offline Map: The Mountain Ranger Map itself includes OSM Taiwan map data, contour maps, DEM, and other multi-layer vector data, with a unique design style. Map data can be updated in the map settings, and the system will download the new layers, saving time and data.
Online Map: The application provides various satellite maps and historical maps, allowing interactive observation of terrain features and historical evolution.
Offline Search: The application itself has tens of thousands of built-in location data points, including water sources, campsites, trail conditions, communication points, mountains, and bases. You can still search for location data even without internet access on the mountain, and the latest information can be updated in the map settings at any time.
Location Reporting: Upon arriving at a campsite, hut, or water source, you can report the water source status through the application. If you encounter landslides, road closures, or hornet infestations, you can also alert other hikers about to ascend via trail condition reports. Reporting can be done even offline; the application will automatically upload the report data when you have internet access.
Record Track: Record the track for each trip and calculate ascent, descent, and distance in real time. After the trip, you can merge or export multiple track records in "My Tracks." You can choose to export in GPX or KML format.
**Mark Locations**
When recording a track, in addition to receiving location reports, you can also mark your recorded track. You can delete marks if you accidentally enter them incorrectly, or select which marks to include in the exported track.
**Import Tracks**
Before setting off, you can import downloaded tracks into the application to observe or follow the route.
**Waypoint Cards** Map markers will appear with reminder cards indicating the straight-line distance and direction of each point.
**Title Notifications** When you are 200 meters away from a campsite, water source, or an area with terrain features, you will be alerted.
**Derailment Alerts** If you deviate from the recorded route, the map will issue an alert. You can set the distance to be deviated from the route before issuing an alert.
**Share Tracks**
You can share your edited track records with others.

Routes
The Ranger Map provides information on well-known traditional routes, route data analysis, suggested times, weather forecasts, and allows direct loading of tracks.
Login is available using Google/Line/Apple accounts. The application only stores avatars, names, and email addresses to link user reporting records. The Ranger Map does not store sensitive data, nor does it provide this information to these third-party platforms. If an account is deleted, the username for past reports will be changed to "Anonymous." Every report is recorded in "My Reports," and each report accumulates a credit score. When the credit score is high enough, each new location will be automatically approved.

Usage Scenarios
The night before departure – Pre-trip confirmation
Xiao Mei is going to Qilai tomorrow. She opens the route page, sees the elevation profile, estimated arrival time, and tomorrow's weather, and casually checks the water sources along the way: "Currently, the water level is average, and it's drinkable." Feeling reassured, she sleeps soundly tonight.
No signal on the ridgeline – Offline use possible
A Zhe is walking on the main ridge where there's no signal, but the map still displays his location, contour lines, and mountain shadows as usual. A hiker ahead reported a "landslide three days ago, requiring a high detour," so he changed to an alternative route early, avoiding the dangerous section.
Reaching a water point – Instant reporting
Lao Wang discovers that the previously marked water source has dried up. He sends an offline update saying "Dried up," which is automatically uploaded after reconnecting to a signal – ensuring the following groups don't have to detour unnecessarily. Trail Running Training – Track Recording: Akai switches to "Trail Running" mode (high-precision sampling), runs the course, analyzes movement time, elevation gain, and pace, and saves the track.
In Case of Emergencies – Sharing Location: If a teammate sprains their ankle and cannot walk, the team leader uses "Share Location" to transmit the precise coordinates to those remaining behind, allowing for direct location assistance.
