The French Civil Code, usually called the “Civil Code” (often abbreviated to “C. Civ.” or “CC”) or “Code Napoléon”, brings together the laws relating to French civil law, that is to say the set of rules which determine the status of persons (book I), that of property (book II) and that of relations between private persons (books III and IV).
