文(ふみ)― ゲームで覚える古文と漢文
SNAPLACE
■ Write your reply in the original text, not just read the translation
"Fumi" is a learning adventure where you acquire classical Japanese and Chinese while serving as a sixth-rank court official in the Heian period.
Every day, you receive a letter from someone. From the Empress, from a superior, from a princess.
You read it in its original vertical writing and choose your reply in the original text.
If you misuse honorifics, the recipient's face will cloud over; if you show proper respect, the distance between you will shorten.
The reasons "why that word is used" will become clear within the story.
■ Ten chapters, from basic to advanced—137 days in total
The story is interconnected. From the classical Japanese chapter (free, 13 days) where you learn to write as a sixth-rank court official (or lady-in-waiting if female),
to the chapter on serving in the court after promotion, the chapter on working at the Empress's desk, the chapter on reading comprehension as a scribe, and finally the chapter on the seasonal events at the summer palace.
The classical Chinese section progresses from the section on classical Chinese with diacritical marks to sections on historical anecdotes, strategies, sentence structures, and character meanings—all within a narrative that follows the cycle of a year's seasons, from student to teacher.
Frequently tested topics in difficult university entrance exams—The Tale of Genji (Aoi, Yugao, Hotaru, Suma), the Three Great Diaries, distinguishing between "se-tamau" and "tamau,"
re-reading characters, polysemous characters, and honkadori and acrostic poems—are addressed within vivid historical context.
■ The text is designed so that you cannot choose based on the translation alone.
Modern Japanese translations are not provided in the answer choices. Diacritical marks (kaeriten and ichiniten) are added to the classical Chinese texts,
and a section for reading in Japanese ("kun-reading") is included where you decide the reading order yourself.
You cannot proceed without reading the original text—that is the core of this work.
In the answer checking section, the question is presented again,
and then an explanation is given as to why the answer is correct and why other words are incorrect.
■ Covers the Entrance Exam Scope
54 items in Classical Japanese and 29 items in Classical Chinese, a total of 83 items.
Three classifications of honorifics and absolute honorifics, identification of auxiliary verbs, particles, rhetoric in Waka poetry,
sentence structure, idiomatic expressions, Chinese poetry, philosophy—all the topics tested in entrance exams are listed,
and linked to which items are covered in which situations.
The material is checked by machine to ensure that no "items not yet covered" remain.
