PUSH-D (Practice and Use Self-Help for Depression) is a structured, computer-based self-care program designed to support individuals experiencing mild to moderate intensity depressive symptoms. The program provides a guided space to learn, strengthen, and practice psychological skills that may be helpful in managing depressive concerns, using evidence-based approaches in a flexible, technology-enabled format.
PUSH-D is not a tool for diagnosis and is not a substitute for professional mental health care. It is intended to complement professional help and, in some cases, may be used as a standalone self-help approach only when recommended by a mental health professional. The program is designed for individuals who have undergone an initial evaluation and have been identified as suitable for low-intensity self-help intervention.
PUSH-D is grounded in established psychotherapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Supportive Therapy, and Positive Psychology. The psychological content was developed under the guidance of senior clinical psychologists from NIMHANS.
The program follows a structured 6–8 week format, with modules to be completed two to three times per week. It includes an essential zone with sequential sections and an optional module that can be accessed based on individual needs. The app uses interactive activities, audio-visual content, and guided exercises, and can be accessed from anywhere using a smartphone or computer with internet connectivity.
PUSH-D aims to reduce barriers to mental health support by offering a structured, confidential, and accessible self-help platform. It is best suited for individuals with mild depressive concerns and is not recommended for those experiencing severe symptoms or crisis, who should seek immediate professional support.
