You take the photo, Karbi does the counting.

A carb-counting diary. One picture of the food on the plate, and Karbi estimates the carbohydrate, fat, protein and calories, plus whether the food is likely to be absorbed over a short, medium or long time. Check the values, correct them if needed, and save.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Take the photo. No scales, and no searching through a database.
2. Check the values. Two independent image-recognition models read every photo. When they disagree, Karbi shows a rounded, approximate number and marks the estimate as worth a look. You can edit every value before saving.
3. Save it to the diary. The entry counts towards the daily budget and the weekly statistics.

ABSORPTION TIME
For every entry, Karbi estimates a short, medium or long absorption time. The category depends on the food's composition: how much fat and protein it contains alongside the carbohydrate.

PACKAGED PRODUCTS
• Search by name: more than 3 million products, with those sold in Hungary ranked first.
• Barcode: scan it and Karbi looks up the product.
• Nutrition label: if the product is missing, photograph its nutrition label and Karbi reads the values.
• Amount: in grams or portions, and Karbi recalculates.

EVERYTHING STAYS AFTER THE PHOTO
• A daily carbohydrate budget, a calorie budget, or both. In calorie mode, calories come first.
• Weekly and monthly statistics.
• Favourites and one-tap re-logging.
• CSV export for free, PDF export with the subscription.
• Works without an account. Your diary stays on your phone; it syncs to the cloud only if you turn that on separately.
• No ads.

PACKAGES
Karbi is free to use: diary, budgets, statistics, absorption time, barcode and nutrition label, CSV export, and a few photo estimates to try. The Karbi Photo subscription adds a photo estimate for every meal and PDF export. Google Play shows the terms and the prices.

WHO MAKES IT
I live with type 1 diabetes, count carbohydrates every day, and use Karbi myself. I build it for the Hungarian diabetes community.

The photo result is an estimate, so always check it. Karbi is not a medical device: it gives nutritional information, does not calculate insulin doses, does not estimate blood glucose, and does not give medical advice. Limits of the estimate: karbiapp.com/en/limits
