tap empty corners while the mosquito feeds on you and you'll think
the game is broken. It isn't. You're listening with your eyes.
Around minute fifteen you'll land your first kill and you'll know
it was earned. From then on you're hunting.
Some people will love this. Some people will hate it and uninstall
within five minutes. Both reactions are correct. Choose before you
download.
Pitch Black is a real 3D-audio mosquito hunt. The screen stays
dark. The buzz is an actual mosquito, recorded from a summer night
and spatialised in 3D around your head, so on headphones it
genuinely sounds like one tiny point of sound flying through the
air. Your only weapons are your ears and your nerve.
Sound on. Headphones strongly recommended for the full 3D experience.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS
- Real 3D audio. The buzz is a clean recording of an actual
mosquito, processed in real time with stereo panning, inter-
aural delay, head-shadow filtering and distance-based dampening.
On headphones it really sounds like a bug moving around you.
- Pitch-black canvas. Nothing on screen tells you where the bug
is. You listen. You remember. You tap.
- Tap where you hear it. Miss, and the bug flies off, then comes
straight back at you. Same bug. It does not give up.
- Wait for the close passes. Far buzz is out of reach by design.
A landed bug is the easiest hit, but the screen stays black,
so you have to remember where you last heard it.
- Ignore it long enough and it lands on you. Five seconds of
heartbeat vibration tell you it won this round.

attempts thrown, hit rate, bites suffered, time spent in the dark,
seconds spent being fed on. Numbers go up forever.
