1. Choose the type of files to check.
2. Scan device storage for recoverable items.
3. Review or preview the detected results.
4. Select the files you want to keep.
5. Save the selected files locally.
Results are organized to make scanning easier to review. You can check photos, videos, audio, documents, screenshots, similar photos, and other available categories from the recovery interface.
Local recovery process
Storage access is used for user-started scanning, file recovery, saving selected files, and recovery status updates. Recovery processing is performed on the device, and files are not uploaded as part of the recovery operation. Broader storage access may be required because standard file selection APIs may not provide enough access to inspect recoverable files across device storage.
Status and completion updates
Some scans or recovery tasks may take time. Retvara may show a foreground notification while a recovery task is running, along with a completion notification when the task finishes. These notifications are used for recovery progress and completion information.

No recovery app can guarantee that every deleted file will be found or restored. Results depend on the device, storage conditions, deletion timing, available space, and whether the original data has already been overwritten.
