Wonder History: Read & Listen
The Smart Solutions
Wonder History turns real events into illustrated stories worth reading — narrated aloud, free to read, and working in more than ten languages.
YOU ARE NOT JUST READING THIS LIBRARY. YOU ARE BUILDING IT.
Most apps ask you for a star rating. This one asks you what to make next — and then makes it.
Nothing in this library is ever finished, and that is the point. An illustration you flag can be repainted. A story that is not working can be rewritten. A mistake can be corrected in days rather than waiting for a new edition. No printed book and no ordinary app can do that.
So we are going to keep asking you things:
• Which era or subject should we write about next?
• Which illustration style do you want more of?
• Which part of the library do you actually use?
• Later: which characters do you want to follow, so we can build a series around them?
Always a tap, never a form. We do not ask you to type — you pick an option and get back to reading.
To be straight with you about how it works: nothing changes because one person said so, and nothing changes overnight. But when the same signal arrives from enough readers, that becomes the plan, and it gets built. Come back in a few weeks and look for the thing you asked for. That is the whole idea.
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT
• Press play once and put the phone down. Narration continues page after page, hands-free, words lighting up as they are spoken — good for commutes, bedtime and reluctant readers.
• Switch language any time from the reader. The story and the interface follow.
• Tap the download icon before you travel. The text stays readable with no connection.
• Flag anything that looks wrong. That is not a complaint box — it is how the next version gets written.
• Choose the Kids or Adults shelf. They are separate collections, not the same stories relabelled.
A FREE LIBRARY YOU CAN READ WITHOUT PAYING
Every story opens without an account and without payment. No ads. No in-app purchases. No interruptions. Sections we add later may be paid.
READ IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
The app works in English, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish and Chinese — so more people, in more places, can read the world's stories the way they read best. Narration is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, with more on the way.
WHAT YOU WILL FIND INSIDE
• Wars & Battles — Salamis, Mohacs, Poitiers, Tsushima
• Revolutions & Rebellions
• The Fight for Freedom
• Decisions That Changed Humanity
• Great Empires Falling — Ancient Rome, Mesopotamia, the Khmer Empire
• Historic Crises & Disasters
• Pivotal Treaties & Accords
• Dramatic Turning Points — Columbus in 1492, Commodore Perry in Japan
Plus everyday history most books skip: how homes changed from caves to castles, how justice was served in ancient Babylon, how music was made before recordings, how African gold built European kingdoms.
FOR CLASSROOMS AND HOME LEARNING
Read-along narration supports developing and second-language readers. Offline downloads mean a lesson never depends on the connection. No account, no ads, no data harvesting — hand it to a class or a child directly.
Reading never requires an account. Sign in only if you want your favourites, streaks and reading progress synced across your devices.
WHERE THIS LIBRARY CAME FROM
Wonder History belongs to WonderBooks, which began in 2016 as a single small reading app. It earned 4.9 stars from 977 readers, and was picked top 10 of about 155 startups to pitch at Harvard Arab Weekend that year. Covering every subject, in every language, was out of reach then. Today each subject has a library of its own — written, illustrated, narrated and translated — and the direction it grows in is the one its readers point.
