In Burkina Faso, as elsewhere, storytelling has above all a function of entertainment and relaxation, but also of education in precious values:
- It castigates dishonesty, jealousy, disrespect, indiscretion, lies and selfishness.
- It presents the true authority, heir to the wisdom and experience of age.
Storytelling is generally recognized as a part of ourselves. As much as the tale makes people laugh, it educates.
