Vasilisa and Baba Yaga

“Vasilisa and Baba Yaga” is an adventure game with horror elements based on the Russian folk tale “Vasilisa the Beautiful.”

Together with Vasilisa and her magical doll, you will walk the path of a fairy tale hero, overcome obstacles separating the world of the living from the world of the dead, and complete the tasks of the dreadful Baba Yaga to prove yourself worthy of her favor and receive the power of fire as a reward.

Along the way, you will face:

Combat challenges:
• fight evil spirits;
• defeat the Water Spirit, the Swamp Creature, and the Leshy;
• overcome the evil stepmother.

Household tasks:
• wash piles of dishes;
• do the laundry;
• clean the hut;
• knead dough and bake pies.

Observation challenges:
• find your way out of the fog;
• escape the dense forest;
• avoid getting lost in underwater thickets.

Stealth challenges:
• sneak past the sleeping Water Spirit;
• move quietly enough not to alert the Swamp Creature;
• avoid being seen by the Leshy;
• run away from Baba Yaga.

• The game is based on unadapted versions of folk tales and motifs containing elements that would now be considered horror.
• A narrator tells the story in a South Russian dialect, just as these tales were told in Russian villages.
• Original soundtrack inspired by Russian folk songs from central and southern regions of Russia.
• Built-in encyclopedia of fairy tale characters, demonic creatures, household items, customs, and rituals, created with the help of a folklore consultant.
