Wyrm — algebra you solve with your hands
Most math apps hand you the answer. Wyrm hands you the problem — and lets you solve it yourself, by touch. Drag a term across the equals sign and it flips its sign. Tap two numbers to combine them. Pull out a factor, cancel a fraction, take a square root — every step is a gesture, and you watch the equation transform.
The idea at its core: only legal moves are possible. Equations change only through sound algebraic rules, so you can never make an invalid step. Explore, experiment, and trust that every move is real algebra. And everything is exact — true fractions and exact roots, never rounded-off decimals.
Stuck? Two kinds of help:
• Guide me — an interactive coach. A finger shows you the next move, then waits for you to do it. It adapts to wherever you are, so you learn by doing, not by watching.
• Solution Search — let the app find a complete solution and play it through, step by step (beta).
What Wyrm solves:
• Linear equations — one side or both, with parentheses and fractions
• Inequalities, including the sign-flip when you divide by a negative
• Powers and quotients of powers
• Quadratics — every kind: factoring, the zero-product rule, square roots, and the quadratic formula. Exact irrational answers like (−1 ± √5)/2, simplified radicals like √8 → 2√2, and an honest "no real solution" when there isn't one.
Built for learning:
• A purpose-built math keypad — every symbol one tap away, with a live preview as you type
• A tool palette that surfaces the quadratic formula when it applies — you choose to use it
• Undo/redo, a full step history, and clear tracking of any assumptions a step relies on
• Worked examples across every topic
Private by design: No ads. No accounts. No analytics or tracking. No data collected, and no internet required — everything runs on your device.
Wyrm is for students learning algebra, anyone brushing up, and the curious who want to feel how equations move. It's a calculator you can struggle in — and that's the point. The journey, not just the destination.
