Rapid alerting of first responders in the event of a cardiac arrest in the canton of Aargau.

Every year around 8,000 people in Switzerland suffer a cardiac arrest. Around 5% of those affected survive a cardiac arrest. To increase the chance of survival, qualified help within a few minutes is essential. However, only very few patients can be reached by the emergency services within 5 minutes. In many cantons, so-called first responders are already deployed in the event of a cardiac arrest.

First responders are voluntary, qualified and licensed first aiders who are alerted and called upon by the medical emergency call center (SNZ) 144 in the event of a cardiac arrest. They bridge the time until the regular emergency services arrive by using resuscitation measures such as cardiac massage (Basic Life Support – BLS) or using an automatic external defibrillator (AED). They make a significant contribution to increasing the probability of survival. For every minute that a cardiac arrest goes untreated, the likelihood of a successful resuscitation decreases significantly.

This application is required for registering and alerting first responders in the canton of Aargau.
