Светодан: Православни календар

You open the app and in two seconds you know: which saint is being celebrated today, whether it is a red letter, whether it is a fast — and what is allowed to be eaten.

The Holy Day follows exclusively the calendar and Typikon of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Without mixing Russian, Greek or other rules — the fast, the rank of the holiday and the dates correspond to what is valid in the Serbian Orthodox Church.

WHAT DO YOU GET EVERY DAY
• The saint or the feast of the day, with an icon and a short biography
• Is today a fast — on water, on oil, fish or a strict fast — or no fast at all
• Date according to the new and old (Julian) calendar
• Is the holiday marked with a red letter

KRSN SLAVA
Find your day and set a reminder so that you are not surprised. The calendar includes, among others:

Nikoljdan · Djurdjevdan · Arangeldan · Jovanjdan · Savindan · Mitrovdan · Sveta Petka · Vračevi · Đurđic · Tomindan · Srđevdan · Markovdan · Paulovdan · Michaeldan · Ivanjdan · Petrovdan · Ilindan · Vidovdan · Tucindan · Krstovdan · Velika Gospojina · Mala Gospojina

Mark your slava and you will receive a reminder on time — both for the slava itself and for the pre-slava.

MAJOR HOLIDAYS
Twelve great holidays, fixed and movable: Christmas, Epiphany, Meeting of the Lord, Annunciation, Palm Sunday, Easter, Salvation Day, Pentecost, Transfiguration, Velika Gospojina, Mala Gospojina, Vavedenje and Vozdaj of the Holy Cross. Along with them, Christmas Day, Savindan, Vidovdan, Usjekovanje and other red and bold days from the Serbian Orthodox Church calendar.

FASTING, WITHOUT GUESSING
The rule of fasting days is calculated according to the priority of the Typikon — fasting period, lame week, feast and absolution — and not just by day of the week. Wednesday and Friday are not always the same.

All great fasts are covered: Great (Easter) Lent, Christmas Lent, Peter's Lent and Our Lady's Lent, along with lame weeks, Cross Day, Usjekovanje and the special rules of Holy Week, where fish, oil and wine change from day to day.

• How long does Christmas Lent last? — forty days, until Christmas Day
• When does my slava fall? — mark it once and a reminder will arrive
• What does "on water" and "on oil" mean? — each rule comes with an explanation
